How to collect baggage left on train: tips from Transdniepria (Prydniprovska) Railways

Monday February 8, 2016If you remembered about your baggage and the train had already left, you should immediately submit an appplication to the stationmaster. In it, you should write the train, carriage and seat number and provide maximum details on your left baggage. Next, the chief of on-board services (trainmaster) of the train on which you had traveled will receive the information on the left baggage and leave it at the nearest station, from which the baggage will then be sent to you. During reception, you will be asked to write a receipt with your permanent residence address and passport details.
If the left baggage is found by a steward at a turminus or transit station, it is then forwarded to stationmaster. Your suitcase will be opened, inspected in the presence of a law enforcemen officer, and there will be made up an inventory of contents. Next, the baggage information will be entered in the register, and there will be attached to the suitcase a label with the information. The baggage will be held in the left luggage storage until called for. The owner of the belongings must have a passport (or any other ID) and provide maximum details on the left baggage.
The storage and transportation of baggage is paid for by forgetful passenger.
